March Break Art Camp ~ Day 3; Collaging with found materials

A day long event; With masonite boards...

.....and boxes of left over fabrics from my sewing days, seeds and other found objects; these children created wonderful imaginative fabric collage scenes!  Note: I gave them no direction with their images so it was fascinating to see what emerged.....

March Break Art Camp ~ Day 2

Day 2 Activities:
  • We researched different types of art on-line; impressionism, the realism of Andrew Wyeth; and the abstract expressionism of Jackson Pollock
  • We went for a sketching hike on the ravine path. Found some interesting snow and ice patches; tree trunks to draw and ducks to photograph.

Then we created collages.

March Break Art Camp - 2010: Day 1

Art Camp with Katherine Hartel:

I am committed to having young people be able to explore and discover the magical world of creation and find their unique self-expression.  The experience of playing with the camera, drawing materials and colors in various mediums such as pastels, acrylic paints and even chalk and found materials allow this discovery to arise.

Day 1 March Break Art Camp:

The children got their own sketchbooks;created title pages and listed what they would like to get out of Art Camp. We looked at shapes and drawing materials; colors and color spectrum.

Since the weather co-operated with us we also went on a wonderful hike in the park taking photographs and getting ideas for how to look at landscape and objects in that landscape.
Photographs: Theeran's Stream photo, Anamika's Pink Grafiti photo, Dashran's Grafiti photo, Anamika's TreeTrunk 'Face' and some examples of Day 1 work.
